Consigning means we sell your items on your behalf at auction and take a percentage only when they sell. No up-front cost, no obligation, and no need to know what anything is worth before you call. Most of the collections we handle were inherited, not assembled.

We're not buying your collection from you. Your items stay yours until a bidder wins them, which means you're not accepting a dealer's one-time offer — you're letting the market decide the price.
An appraisal is one person's opinion. An auction is what several informed collectors will actually pay on the night, which is frequently more than a single buyer would offer across a counter.
An inherited coin collection, a parent's jewelry box, a safe deposit box nobody has opened in years. We're used to working with executors and with families — the consignor report gives everyone a documented record of every lot.
Duplicates, upgrades and material that no longer fits your focus. High-end and rare pieces take scheduling precedence over common-date lots, so your best items land in front of an audience that accurately values your items.

Charged per item on the winning bid price, on a sliding scale. Gold coins carry no commission, and neither does any coin that closes at $500 or more.
Contact us first. Nothing is accepted without prior notification, whether you're driving or mailing it to Cornell. Bring or enclose a written full inventory list.
Your items are sorted and scheduled. Coins go into the vault once listed, and the premises are under 24/7 camera surveillance throughout.
When lots are live you receive an emailed consignor report listing every item and its lot number. Verify everything is correct or request adjustments.
Bidding closes Tuesday evening. Your check is written one week after the auction ends. Where a buyer's payment is delayed, you're paid on that lot once the funds clear. You get paid when we get paid, all items are held until full payment has been received. On rare occasion, if a winner defaults, the lot is relisted, the bidder is blocked, and you receive an updated report.

Between intake and settlement your material is in our hands, and that's the part most consignors think hardest about. Receiving is by appointment only, every lot is checked against the inventory you provide, and coins move to the vault as soon as they're listed.

A dealer makes you one offer for pennies on the facde value and takes on the risk of reselling. Consigning puts your item in front of a room of competing bidders, so the price is set by demand rather than by a single buyer's margin. You wait a little longer for the money, and in exchange you get the real dollar value by cutting out the middle man.
Yes, and that describes most of the collections we take in. You don't need to identify, sort or value anything beforehand. Bring it or ship it as it is, and we'll work out what deserves individual lots and what's better grouped.
Auctions run weekly, closing Tuesday evenings, so once your material is catalogued it usually doesn't wait long. Your check follows one week after the auction ends. Larger estates take longer to auction than a handful of pieces.
They come back to you, and a $1 per-item charge applies. In many cases relisting in a later auction with a different mix of bidders is worth trying first.
Our location is in Cornell, Wisconsin, and we regularly take consignments in person from across the Chippewa Valley — Eau Claire, Chippewa Falls, Rice Lake, Bloomer, Ladysmith and beyond. Mailed consignments are accepted from anywhere in the country provided you contact us to schedule receiving first.
